Camel Cut – Using bigger tires without a lift
|So you have a Land Rover Discovery 1 and you wish to install 245/75/16 tires, but you do not want to buy and install new springs/shocks?
There is a solution, it first introduced in the Camel Trophy adventures, Land Rover wanted to install bigger tires but keeping the current suspension, there was a problem, the tires rubbed the rear fender, so, they cut ~4cm of the rear wheel arch and solve the problem.
You will need a grinder (4.5″ or 5″ will be just fine).
Put duct tape on the rear fender, mark the area that you are about to cut:
draw a line from ~1/3 height of the fender to 4 cm back, look carefully at the image below:

Carefully, use the grinder to cut according to the line you draw.
That is it. simple and fast.
