Taking care of your Land Rover During Self Isolation
|These are the Corona (AKA Covid-19) days and many of us are forced to stay home in self isolation. It seems that it is best way to stay healthy (and alive…), but, our cars on the other side, don’t really like to stay without moving for a long period of time.
When you are not driving your car the battery keeps “drying”/running out. no oil passes in the engine/transmission/transfer/differentials, no coolant flows, well, you got the idea…
The first thing that might happen is a “dead battery” in order to avoid it, you can disconnect your negative cable from the battery (that way you will lose your radio stations, the alarm backup battery, if any, will dry too), the better way is to connect it to a charger. You can click the link to find cTEK smart battery chargers on eBay. (click here to buy it on Amazon.com).
If possible, take your car to a short drive every few days, few minutes will do the job, just let the oil pass through the engine, the transmission would shift gears and less sludge will be created on your car’s components.
If you can’t drive your car, start it and let the engine work till it will arrive its working temperature.
The most important thing, use the free time that you have to improve and create any mod you have thought about during the last few years and said that you don’t have time to do it 🙂
Good luck, stay safe at home.
