Camping Pizza Oven – DIY
|Let me start by saying, Yes, I’m a Pizza fan :). I’m a vegetarian (as my all family) so the highlight of the camping food for us is a Pizza, made in the middle of no where.
I’ve been using Coleman Oven for few year and it worked ok. It took a long time to heat up, once, it melted my camping table (I used oven bricks in it), but over all, it was ok. no more, no less.
Then, I decided I would like to get to the next level of Pizza in our camping, I decided to build a small Pizza oven that will use my Coleman dual stove as a heat source.
Main considerations were:
- Weight
- Size
- Isolation (Temprature)
I decided that 28×28 cm pizza would be a good size for my oven, so I could use one 30x30cm oven brick. The width of the oven walls would be 20mm, so I can insert isolation blanket in them. I also wanted the top of the oven would be detachable so it would be easier to clean in.
So, I started working…
welding and filling with isoaltion:
Heating test, no Pizza 🙂

328C, definitely good enough for me (and for the pizza 🙂 )

Time to test it, for real…

And the final result:

It ended up 18kg, ~45x30x25cm.
I’m very happy with the result, great hot pizza in the middle of no where, who can ask for more?
